Aaron LaRocque and Brendan Howey came together for this Commencal Bikes edit. Check out the proto type Lavan Kit Howey is wearing! Should be avaiable in a few weeks.
That’s right folks, the Pierre is now only $40! Get it while ya can, only a few left.

Ian Killick has some serious talent. Stoked to see him blow up in 2012!
Lavan recently joined forces with Oak Bay bikes as our newest dealer on Vancouver Island. We have also collaborated to create the Oak Bay Bikes and Lavan team for 2012. Check the Brian Park edit below to find out more!
We are so stoked to have Matt Miles on board for this season. Watch the two videos below to see why.
Might be one of the cooles edits in the long time!

unreal.
Lavan is super pumped to be a supporter of SHIFTED, a new film by Matt Butterworth. Full length film is due for release in early spring.
Eric Wong, one of Lavan’s new young gunners, headed to the Sunshine Coast for some bike riding good times. See for yourself in the edit below. Filmed and edited by Cole Graham

The new Lavan glove samples showed up early last week , so Iwas pretty stoked to get out and test them. Just so happened by buddy, Rup Walker, asked to get out and do a littlefilming at the same time. I wassurprised to hear from Rup as he was fresh out of surgery after getting a tumour removed from his heel, thankfully it was not malignant! Shortly into the shoot we realized maybe we should have waited for his heel to be healed. Rup found a good shot up in a tree but fell out of it just as fast as he climbed it, breaking the tri-pod and almost his leg. We decided to keep on truckin and get as many other shots as we could. Wasn’t long till I tomahawked off the bike and almost smashed Rup and the Camera. We got a few more shots then headed home.
A day later the new shorts and jersey samples showed up so we decided to give filming another shot. We got ourselves a new tri-pod and headed off to beautiful Sooke. Things came together much nicer on this day and we ended up scraping most of the footage from the first day. Below is how it all turned out.

First off tell us what youve been up to since the season has ended.
I’ve been filming and building. Mostly building for a new small bike park in Victoria.
How did the contest season go for you this year? What was your favourite contest or any other highlights?
Contest season was fun, I didn’t end up being able to get to very many but rode in Jumpship and Crankworx Colorado. Crankworx Colorado was the highlight for sure. I put down a run that I had fun with and it paid off.

You moved to whistler for a month this summer right? How was the experience coaching at the Camp of Champions? And will we see you back there next season?
I did, it was one of the best experiences I’ve had. I rode the mountain and trained on mulch every day. My riding is still benefiting from camp. I am hoping to coach again next year for sure!
Did you learn any new bicycle manoeuvres at the COC training area?
I re-learned how to barspin and then was able to truck as well but I have now lost both of those tricks again. Barspins are not my strong point.
Is that correct you stayed off the booze for most this years contest season? Is this something you’re going to try again for next year, or is it back to the sauce?
I did yeah, as well as in Whistler. The boys were not happy about that and will say it’s because I went to visit my now ex girl but who says it wasn’t a little bit planned.
Have you ever run maxxis hookworms during your MTB career?
I have never run a Maxxis Hookworm, Wink has.
Chicken or beef?
Chicken babyyy

What is it going to take for you to be the bike dice champion next year?
A little less luck for Winky, kid should have been in Vegas.
Twitter of facebook?
Twotter
Who’s the better blogger on OnlyMTB, you or Wink?
Wink, he edits all my shit. I’m the majority share holder though so we’ll see who gets the last laugh.
What do you have planned for the off season and next season? Any goals?
I have to write my MCAT over the Winter, which is going to be much harder now that I am staying in Victoria. Victoria doesn’t really have any down riding time during the Winter, might be hard to stay off the bike. After that I want to put out some good web edits and hit as many contests as I can.

Awhile back local photographer, Jon Lake, asked me to head for a quick shoot. I replied with a yes and we headed out to a local trail. Jon hadn’t shot MTB for awhile, but didn’t seem to effect how the photo’s turned out. For more of Jon’s photos check his website jonlakephoto.com

Film, black and white, wide angle lens, and Wink are all the elements needed for this stellar shot.

The summer felt like it all got kick started at the Jump Ship event in Victoria, BC. And I don’t think there could have been a better event to get it all started. For a first year event, Jump Ship was a huge success. The whole event seemed to come together
smoothly and continue that way through the whole weekend. I’m sure the organizers would say differently but as vendor at the event it was one of the smoothest we’ve been to yet. Some of the feedback on the course was a bit mixed but overall everyone seemed stoked and threw down a solid run. The event didn’t finish once the sun went
down though. The organizers had pre and after parties going right through to Sunday night. Super stoked to hear Jump Ship will be happening again in 2012 and you can be sure to see Lavan there again supporting the event.
Next up was Crankworx. I had some ideas of how crankworx would play out. Sure enough I was pretty bang on: bikes and liquor. Usually there is racing mixed in there somewhere but I decided to scrap that and just focus on the two this year. Best night would probably have to go to the Jordie Lunn/Sombrio/leamonade party at the GLC. Some of the other highlights would be: hitting crab apple hits, high fiving Danny Heart on the dance floor, Zog’s poutine, watching the “evolution” of slopestyle and coming away with no injuries.
It was then time for Center of Gravity in Kelowna. This event is always a guaranteed good time Beaches, bikes, beer all day long. I decided to stay at a homies place in
Penticton for the weekend. The late nights and commute usually meant the Lavan booth getting set up a bit late each day. As for the riding, it was the usual Kelowna style huck fest. The usual guys like Dustin Greenall and Casey Groves were throwing down big time. Benton Leong seemed to come out of nowhere and dial some front flip super mans like he was trading stocks. All in all COG was a super rad weekend, and
thanks to all the Lavan supporters in Kelowna!
The one event I was looking forward to all year – and I think many others too – was sadly cancelled last minute. Goatstyle was stepping their game up and moving it Silverstar, which seemed like a great collaboration for both parties, but some financial issues forced it to the gutter for this year. Hopefully things can be done to make sure
this event returns for next season! In place of Goatstyle this year Mount Washington shredding took place which wasn’t too bad of a substitute.
Wink, Jarrett Moore, and Alan Hepburn battle it out for second round of bike dice. Documented by the one and only Aaron LaRocque.
Wink Grant has been getting his blog on. Check out his new site at onlymtb.ca.
Nothing but MTB gold.
Noah Brousseau and PR (Caton Garvie) headed to the coast for this splendid little edit. Super stoked on how this turned out. Be sure to check these two fellas on the old facebook.

Jarrett Moore walks us through his super dialed Rocky Slope bike. He then gets his huck on.

The new Lavan collection has landed! We were once again faced with some setbacks that have caused the line to drop much later than anticipated, but none the less we are stoked!
This year we collaborated with a few different people to get this line dialled in. Big thanks to Blair Farrington (www.thespacecamp.com), Mike Serafin(www.memikeserafin.com), Gary Sylverster; and Kelsey Goodwin(www.kgoodphoto.com) for the product photos.
Head on over the store and check it out for yourself. Also, check out a couple of these edits from some of the Lavan family.
